Join Susan Greenstein and Janet Pedersen – two seasoned Winslow instructors – for a week of plein air painting in the stunning Istrian coastal town of Rovinj. Janet and Susan will guide you as you capture the beauty of Rovinj – from the narrow winding streets of the renaissance town to the colorful fishing boats and the sparkling Adriatic. There will be no shortage of inspiring subjects to paint!
This workshop will cover the essential aspects of outdoor landscape painting. You will gain confidence by working quickly and directly, controlling value and color and thinking intentionally about form. Together we will explore how to scout locations and simplify a scene for a compelling composition. With a full week at your disposal, whether a newcomer or more experienced painter, your will have time to observe and explore your subject and develop your practice. Evening gatherings will give us an opportunity to critique and celebrate our efforts. In the end, you will gain insight into capturing the spring light and moments of this Istrian coastal village, and bring paintings home which will stay with you for a life-time!
This is a unique opportunity to learn from two experienced artists and educators, each bringing her individual expertise and use of mediums, while also collaborating as a dynamic teaching team. Janet will demonstrate and work in gouache and acrylic, while Susan will focus on watercolor.
Throughout the week there will be numerous joint demonstrations and presentations. With two instructors and a limited class size, there will be plenty of time for one-on-one instruction, relevant to painters of all experience levels.

With over 10 years of experience organizing art tours, and with part of our team, my daughters Anne and Amy, living in Europe and fluent in Italian and Spanish, we have the ability not only to maintain long term relationships with the owners and staff of our favorite venues, but to seek out and vet new and unique locations each year. We personally participate in every travel workshop to ensure the quality of the accommodations and cuisine as well as to coordinate the special needs of the art instruction program.
