Flowers are an incredibly rewarding and beautiful subject – but also a very challenging one. In this one-hour demo, Catherine Bobkoski will lead you through her painting process, from color palette, vibrant color mixtures, paint application techniques, and more!
Catherine Bobkoski is a still life and figurative artist whose work celebrates the quiet beauty of ordinary things. Her expressive, yet delicate paintings of flowers and still life scenes are exhibited nationally, including at the Oil Painters of America 2021 National Juried Exhibition.
Catherine also enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of painting with others. She is a sought after painting instructor with over 10 years of experience and teaches at many art schools throughout Southern California. Students describe Catherine’s teaching style as generous, thorough and joyful. She especially enjoys teaching painting and drawing basics to students in a clear, concise way that is easy to understand.
Catherine began studying drawing and painting at The Watts Atelier in Encinitas, California and later at Grand Central Academy and New York University in New York City. She has also studied with many inspiring artists along the way, including Daniel Keys, Dustin Van Wechel, and Vadim Zang.

Very nice class. I follow Catherine on Insta and big like her short informative videos. She has a lot to learn from, I even purchased one of the tools she use in painting, it is a roller to soften paints on canvas / panel. I am so happy to watch this course online. She is a great artist. Thank you.
Excellent demo! I loved her description of imagining a bug crawling over the surface of the flower in and out of the light, up or downhill, etc. in order to pick up the nuances of the flower. Even though I don’t paint in oils, I picked up some great painting tips. Thank you!!!
Catherine, Thank you for your demo yesterday — it was excellent. You are a wonderful teacher and I hope to take a course with you sometime. I learned a lot in that one hour, and I mean a lot — from supplies to how you approach the subject. I also believe in giving voice to your subject by honest representation — how else can you interpret if you don’t listen. Brilliant. Enjoy Tucson (I’m the one from there).
