Unlock the power of a limited palette in this inspiring painting demonstration. By working with just two complementary colors plus white, you’ll learn how to create a subtle yet dynamic range of hues and values. This simple yet versatile approach will show you how a simple palette can bring a sense of dimension, light, and space to your work – and deepen your understanding of color mixing, too!
While this versatile technique can be applied to many subjects, the demonstration will center on painting plaster casts. These classical forms provide the perfect opportunity to explore temperature and hue contrast as a descriptive force, helping you capture the interplay of light and shadow with compelling accuracy.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to use color contrast and harmony to add depth and nuance to your paintings. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this demonstration will inspire you to see the power of complementary colors in a whole new way.
