About the Instructor:

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature. Scott is an Oregon native and lives in Portland with his family.

  1. Great demonstration. I love hearing his thoughts on how by “playing” in a sketchbook it is less precious and more freeing for experimenting. Looking forward to making some “play” time. Thanks Scott

  2. Watching this demonstration I wonder why not even one tiny little aspect of Scott Gellatly’s approach to abstract his originals – photo or other – has ever occurred to me. I can’t wait to try it out. I have been struggling with translating ideas into shape and colour: take the idea being in Scott’s work a photo perhaps. There is no reason why this shouldn’t work! Thank you very much for your demo and explanations. And I look forward to others to come!
