Scott Gellatly – Abstracting the Landscape Demo (Online); Sunday, April 16, 2023

Scott Gellatly pulls his inspiration from the varied colors and visual texture of nature and expresses these qualities through the physicality of paint. In this online demo, Scott will share some of the key aspects of his artistic process, including his use of reference imagery, surface preparation, palette set-up, tools and painting mediums and discuss how each of these plays a roll in his abstracted landscapes.

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature.

Scott is an Oregon native and lives in Portland with his family. www.scottgellatly.com
