Scott Gellatly – Bringing Inventive Color to the Landscape (Online)

Scott Gellatly will discuss his process of bringing his plein air studies into the studio and the evolution of color that the works take on in his larger studio paintings.

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature. Scott is an Oregon native and lives in Portland with his family.
Thank you Scott for the insight into your process. The Notan as well as your emphasis on the concepts of shape, colour and edge are all useful tools toward the process of ‘managing landscape’ as the mechanism for abstract composition.

I enjoyed the demo except that the audio didn’t sync with Scott’s lip movement, making it uncomfortable to watch.
