Tim McCormack – Drawing Narratives: People in Urban Spaces (Online Class Recording)

Date recorded: Friday, February 28, 2025
Medium: Sketching with a fountain pen, brush pen, micron, watercolour, gouache, inks

Learn how to capture the lives and stories of people in urban settings both familiar and exotic. Tim will explore drawing people in spaces and places that suggest emotionally resonant narratives, from the quiet moments of subway rides to lively scenes in cafés. Subjects will include drawing people in-scale within both interior and exterior spaces, helping to bring out the character of each setting. This talk touches on the worlds of fashion, illustration and cartoons with an emphasis on spontaneity, style and experimenting with various media. You’ll be introduced to convenient, expressive sketching tools like brush pens, fountain pens, and Posca markers—perfect for capturing quick, engaging snapshots of city life and transforming everyday urban scenes into story-driven art.

$40 for one year

About Our Past Technique Takeaways:

Discover specific art techniques that you can ‘take away’ from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. This one-and-a-half hour recorded presentation will showcase a process that the artist incorporates in their daily art practice.  Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration.

You’ll be able to watch the class recording as many times as you would like for one year unless otherwise specified in the product description. If an instructor wishes their recordings to be available for less than a year, we defer to instructor preferences. There are no ongoing charges and your access will automatically end.

A link to the recording will be included in your on-screen purchase confirmation, in your purchase confirmation email and on your Online Classrooms page.

(There is no Zoom link for this event because it has already taken place).
