Patrick Lee – Collage and Oil (Online Class Recording)

Take an unexpected and ‘happy accident’ filled approach to starting your paintings by beginning with collage as a source of shapes, colors, pattern, and textures. Starting with materials such as newspapers, magazines, old drawings, and the occasional receipt or used envelope, Patrick will then work over this base with oil paint, developing the image by adding color and line. Working in this way leads to exciting and out of the ordinary color and shape relationships that might not have otherwise been attempted or realized.

Patrick Lee grew up in Western Pennsylvania and attended Edinboro University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Painting with an Art History minor. Lee works primarily in oils, charcoal, and watercolor (gouache). His chosen subject matter generally ranges from figurative works and landscapes to still-life and interiors.

Lee has participated in many group and solo exhibitions, including Plein Air painting events like Plein Air Easton and Wayne Plein Air and have been an adjunct professor of art at Allegheny Community College for the past several years. patrickleefineart.com

Discover specific art techniques that you can ‘take away’ from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. This one-and-a-half hour recorded presentation will showcase a process that the artist incorporates in their daily art practice. Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration.
