Susan Greenstein – How to Bring Your Travels Back Home through Your Drawings (Online)

We frequently take many photos when we travel, whether it is a weekend trip or a longer trip to Europe or elsewhere. Often, we try to hold on to the feeling of our travels after we are back home. Join me in using some of those photos as sources to create new drawings. Working on drawings related to your travels helps to sustain and delve deeper into your travel experiences. Have some of your photos from travels available as we draw together, using the photos as a jumping- off point. I will discuss some strategies to help get started and show some of my work created this way. Have your favorite drawing materials available. I will be using a micron pen.

About the Instructor:
Susan Greenstein lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA at Pratt Institute where she was exposed to many ways of working and looking at the world. A deep interest in pattern has been a constant inspiration for Greenstein. At times she finds these patterns while observing flora and architecture at how they are interwoven. At other times, Greenstein finds these patterns in a more abstracted form. This can especially be seen in her recent monoprints, which are inspired by memories of patterns.

I”ve been drawing with a pen for over twenty years; I’ve used whatever pen is in my backpack at the time–the ‘free’ ones at the credit union or a package of pens I used to buy for work. Unfortuantely You can’t use one in a museum.
Hi Susan. Thank you, loved your presentation. How you felt about lamps in Spain is exactly how I felt about chimnepots in the Scottish Highlands! Look forward to your next class. ( My drawing files are to big to upload apparently; I’ll see if I can remedy that.)
