Focusing on a corner of your home or any internal space is a great way to study light within your paintings. When Susan Greenstein paints parts of rooms in her home, it helps her to see those areas and appreciate them in a whole new way. Also, when Susan travels, she loves painting and drawing the spaces where she stays or other interior spaces that attract her. It becomes the greatest souvenir of any place one could have.
Join Susan as she works with watercolor to demonstrate painting an interior space. She will focus on what she looks for when choosing an interior space, how she begins, the choices she makes when composing as well as how she completes her painting.

Susan Greenstein lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BFA at Pratt Institute where she was exposed to many ways of working and looking at the world. A deep interest in pattern has been a constant inspiration for Greenstein. At times she finds these patterns while observing flora and architecture at how they are interwoven. At other times, Greenstein finds these patterns in a more abstracted form. This can especially be seen in her recent monoprints, which are inspired by memories of patterns.
About Our Past Technique Takeaways:
Discover specific art techniques that you can ‘take away’ from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. This one-and-a-half hour recorded presentation will showcase a process that the artist incorporates in their art practice. Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration.
