Kathleen Denis – From Vibrant Colors to Beautiful Greys: Using a Limited Palette of Six Colors (Online Class Recording)

Date recorded: Friday, March 29, 2024
Medium: All (Kathleen works in oil)

Discover how to achieve the vibrant colors you desire for an exciting painting, along with the supporting greys that enhance your scene, using just 6 specific colors plus white for endless hues, tints, shades and tones.  With this knowledge you will rid the frustration of not knowing what colors to mix by understanding what is in these 6 pigments.  How freeing to not have to buy every color made!  Kathleen will explain in-detail why these particular colors make every hue and will demonstrate how to mix and use them for your desired palette.  She will also explain how you can use additional colors effectively by knowing where they fall on a color wheel.  Learning this information allows for not only easier mixing but also easier travel with fewer tubes of paint.

All artistic levels are welcome.

Artists using any medium can learn from these principles, but Kathleen will be demonstrating in oils.

Kathleen Denis is known for capturing sun-drenched light in her contemporary-impressionistic style paintings, whether painting scenes of island life, timeworn cottages, inviting gardens or adorable doggies. Presently living in Palm Beach Shores, she was born in Miami, grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, and spent much time in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas, which greatly influenced her use of subject matter and colorful style.

Kathleen’s love of art began with lessons at the age of four, and graduated from University of Miami, with a BFA degree in Graphic Design, while continuing to passionately study, paint en plein air and studio, teach, and win awards.

Her art is licensed by leading manufacturers worldwide and found on numerous home décor and gift products, found at stores such as HomeGoods and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Her original paintings are acquired in galleries, exhibits, plein air events and on her website at www.kathleendenis.com.
