Medium: Printmaking with oil-based ink
Learn how to create simple block prints using an easily carved material (Safety-Kut), printing in black with oil-based ink. Molly will cover how to carve, print, and later how to hand-tint your prints with watercolor. Next Molly will introduce you to woodblock printing with multiple blocks of shina plywood. We’ll start with small blocks and simple designs. You’ll learn how to register the blocks for good color registration, and how to mix oil-based inks. Supply list will be kept as reasonably priced as possible for this introductory session.
Session 1: Block Prints with Safety-Kut Blocks: Introduction to designing and carving woodblocks with multiple blocks.
Session 2: Multiple Block Woodblock Prints with Shina Plywood: Ink mixing, application of ink with brayers.
