This workshop will give you a series of exercises and tools to help you loosen up your painting techniques and get to the heart of what you want to say about landscapes that inspire you. We will explore strategies for color mixing and paint application that can give your work impact. We will dive into various systems for simplify color relationships, imbuing your work with the energy of place by editing out unnecessary details, confusing colors, and mud! Come to class ready to explore all your paint tubes.
Open to all mediums. Demos will be in acrylic.
Liz Prescott received a BFA in painting from Maine College of Art and and MFA in Visual Arts from Vermont College of Norwich University. Her work is included in the permanent collections at the Portland Musueum of Art, Colby College, Bowdoin College, New York Public Library, and the University of New England. She is a member of the Union of Maine Visual Artists (Portland Chapter) and a founding member of Meetinghouse Arts Gallery in Freeport, ME where she remains an active gallery committee member. She leads plein air workshops at many beautiful spots including Monhegan Island, ME and the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park.
