In this class, prepare to pull together tabletop objects to paint inspired table designs by Henri Matisse. We will will limit perspective, flatten forms and accentuate color to move away from realism. Students will begin with one or more small studies from their set up to work towards a larger painting. Objects can include flowers, fruit, cups, vases, baskets, tableware, patterned cloths…use what YOU are drawn to.
Abby will share the art of Matisse at the start of the first class and demonstrations in each class on her process with a focus on color theory and composition. Message board will be used to share your work for comments and feedback.
Students may work in one or more mediums during the course. Please note, this class does not have a supply list.
