Lucy Marks – Painting a Mediterranean Landscape (Online)
Join Lucy Marks for a fun and inspiring session painting a Mediterranean landscape in a loose, expressive style.
Lucy Marks grew up in and around Brighton. Lucy has worked for over 20 years as a professional painter. Her practise focuses on capturing landscapes, seascapes and urbanscapes in Oil, Watercolour and Gouache. Lucy is an observational landscape painter, who works en plein air working directly from the subject, out in all weathers and seasons. Observation is key and her compositions are drawn from real places. Lucy works alla prima responding directly to the scene to gain a freshness in her work. She works to capture an impression of the mood, atmosphere, and light. In the studio, she uses her en plein air works and field sketches to scale up her paintings to much larger work.

Fabulous demo, thanks! I love Lucy’s sense of humour and lovely accent. Great tips and explanation of colour choices and approaching such a detailed reference were very helpful. Would have liked to watch the live demo but recording was worthwhile. It’s inspired me to pull out my gouache for plein air painting as weather warms a bit. Following her on Instagram now too.
Where is the reference photo? The posting in the chat is not online in the recording. Thanks. Great demo and yet another way to use gouache for an inspiring result! Sara
Great session! I love your paintings and the colors you use. I’m a watercolorist and have never tried gouache. Do you have a beginners online course on gouache?
Thanks Linda that’s great to hear – maybe see you in another class sometime – Lucy x
Hi Everyone, How exciting! I can’t wait to see you all for the demo! Have a browse at the materials. And if you have any questions you can ask me during the demo. See you all later. Lucy x
