Barbara Bailey Porter – The Painterly Mark: Small-Scale Demo (Online)
Barbara Bailey-Porter is a California-based painter whose lifelong practice began in the Santa Cruz Mountains, shaped by a creative upbringing and early artistic influences. She holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Known for her plein air landscapes and figurative work, Bailey-Porter has also evolved toward a vibrant abstract style defined by layered color, expressive line and an intuitive, responsive process. Her work draws on years of representational training while embracing spontaneity and experimentation.
Alongside her studio practice, she has had an extensive teaching career and is also an art therapist, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of art. Her paintings are widely exhibited and held in collections across the United States and Canada.

I enjoyed your demo and your generous sharing of framing and reference books. I especially liked watching you mix paint on your palette and applying it to the painting. I’m usually so busy trying to paint that I don’t focus on how you are using your brushes to create the scene. Thank you!
