I truly enjoyed this presentation, so thank you Mark and Martha. I dislike trying to “explain” what sort of an artist I am, often resorting to using the term, semi-abstract. I mostly paint from imagination as opposed to using photographs (or other references) although I have done that also from time to time. Usually, some sort of landscape or other recognizable things will emerge, sometimes not. In imaginative painting I don’t usually map ideas out beforehand, shapes etc … just preferring to get in there, get the paint down and work away at it until it the painting begins to reveal itself to me. (Do you ever work this way?). Your video is causing me to rethink my method and to try to work through shape beforehand. Of course, I’ll need a reference of some sort. I’ll try it and see where it takes me. My brain will protest, but the challenge of it will be good. Thank you again. And thank you Martha, for all of this wonderful content. It’s a truly wonderful resource to have.
