Step into the dynamic energy of the city and translate its pulse onto canvas!

Cityscapes can easily feel overwhelming with all their perspective lines, windows, and architecture—but they don’t have to be. This workshop is all about editing away the clutter to capture the mood, movement, and vivid color of urban life. Learn how to turn complex street scenes, glowing sunlight, big shadows, and bustling intersections into painterly, atmospheric works of art.

Through bold brushwork and expressive color, you’ll discover how to suggest structure without getting bogged down in rigid detail, letting the paint itself convey the life of the city.

What You’ll Learn

Simplifying Architecture: Reduce complex buildings, streets, and structures into big, graphic value shapes and dynamic visual masses.

Expressive Brushwork & Edges: Use lost-and-found edges, sometimes a palette knife, and energetic marks to suggest cars, figures, and traffic without over-rendering them.

Bold, Unexpected Color: Move beyond literal grey concrete to discover rich cools, vibrant warm undertones, and striking color harmonies in everyday city scenes.
