This course will explore and find inspiration in the sea paintings of Charles-Francois Daubigny & Gustave Courbet, prominent members of the French 19th century, Barbizon school. Join Richard K. Blades as he fuses his technique of capturing seascapes with a passionate tribute to two of his greatest inspirations. This course will not teach you how to paint like Daubigny or Courbet, instead it will offer the opportunity to draw inspiration from their approach and ways of working.
With an emphasis on creating atmosphere and a sense of place, the course will explore things such as
– Spontaneous and loose painting
– Mark making and brushwork
– Working with a limited palette
– Color mixing
– Simplifying composition
– Creating depth
