In this two-part workshop we draw and paint the classic vessel form. Throughout art history, vessels in painting have been seen both as ordinary utilitarian objects
and as containers with a multitude of symbolic, ritualistic, and cultural meanings. Each class begins with an inspirational slideshow of contemporary art using the vessel as the main subject followed by a series of instructor demos with guided exercises. Student work can be made in any drawing and painting materials you choose – and anywhere along the spectrum from representation to abstraction you feel called to.
