In this immersive three-week course, we will explore the art of painting flowers en plein air, capturing the vibrancy and luminosity that only natural light can provide.
When floral arrangements are placed outdoors in direct sunlight, something truly magical happens—the petals and leaves come alive with colors that cannot be replicated in a studio setting.
You will receive a comprehensive guide on how to set up your still life and navigate the unique challenges of painting outdoors. Through step-by-step demonstrations, I will walk you through my alla prima painting process, showing you how to work quickly and confidently to capture the essence of your subject.
As we progress, we will take our fresh, expressive studies and photo references and transform them into larger, more considered paintings in the studio. You’ll learn how to develop a composition that goes beyond observation, incorporating both reference materials and your own memory of painting in nature.
