These days, many watercolorists are making the transition from watercolor to acrylic for its more forgiving nature in correction, better lightfastness, possibilities in layering, and diverse techniques and styles. However, many find the transition challenging because often watercolor techniques do not work well in acrylic. This class is designed to help you get over these challenges as well as learn new acrylic techniques from a watercolorist perspective.
Through painting demos, guided exercises, presentations, group discussions, and critiques, you’ll be able to make important adjustments in your acrylic technique in the following areas:
· How to avoid the common pitfalls many watercolorists face when transitioning to acrylic,
· How to adjust your blending and mixing techniques for acrylic,
· How to apply acrylic transparently vs. opaquely,
· How to combine transparent and opaque layering,
· What acrylic materials (from paint, painting surfaces, to brushes) are best for your transition to acrylic based on your style.
In this online class, we will be painting landscapes and still life using photo references for all painting demos. Wayne will post photo references to the class feed prior to each class. You may use your own similar photo reference for your painting.
