Create landscapes with depth, subtle, luminous colors, and refined details using Wayne’s unique translucent layering acrylic technique and painting strategies.
Wayne’s acrylic layering technique combines the best qualities of all three mediums the transparent nature of watercolor, the depth and texture of oil, the flexible and fast drying time of acrylic,
To make an ordinary scene into a dreamy landscape painting, we’ll use a few tried-and-true strategies to balance and create just the right amount of color, detail, light and dark contrast between the foreground, middle ground, and background.
You will also learn to:
· Apply the sequence layer of paint to achieve delicate translucency,
· Combine transparent, semi-opaque, and opaque layers to create depth and texture,
· Create a focal point, refined detail, and soft and hard edges with color glazes,
· Use color logics to create color hue and saturation shifts to create mood and dynamic in your painting
Techniques taught in this workshop have been developed by Wayne over the last 3 decades by studying his favorite Old and Modern masters’ painters such as Jan Van Eyck, The Pre-Raphaelites, and Maxfield Parrish.
This transparent painting technique is a very friendly way for watercolorists to transition to acrylic.
This class will include painting demos, student work feedback sessions, slideshow presentations, and eye training exercises. This combination of activities is designed to help refine your acrylic painting techniques and observation skills.
