This is a course designed to immerse participants in the artistry and ambiance of garden landscapes that have captivated celebrated painters like Claude Monet, Joaquín Sorolla, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, and Alex Katz who were inspired by their gardens to create deeply personal work. The garden motif has provided an intimate dialogue between artist and nature, showcasing how light, colour create vibrant garden scenes. Embark on a captivating journey including the gardens of Monet’s Giverny, glowing with sunlight and shadows, Sorolla’s vivid, light-filled landscapes, the serene intimacy of Morisot’s retreats to Cézanne’s structured Provencal views, concluding with Katz’s bold modern interpretations that emphasize colour and shape.  This is a hands-on course. Each week, the spirit and the technique of each artist’s work will be explored through lectures and demos. Participants will create interpretive work in the spirit of each of the garden artists. Students are welcome to work in the medium of their choice, with instruction available in watercolour, acrylic, and gouache, catering to a diverse range of artistic preferences.

Engage with the Garden experience to advance your artistic vision and embrace the legacy of Master painters.
