Dive into the rich, expressive world of mixed media in this dynamic three-week workshop with Susan Woolgar. Designed for artists ready to loosen up and experiment, this class explores how pastel, oil pastel, gouache, acrylics and collage can work together to create layered, visually compelling paintings.
Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, learn how to combine wet and dry materials, develop complex surfaces and embrace an evolving process where each stage informs the next. Susan will guide you in pushing beyond an initial idea: simplifying, reworking, and rebuilding your compositions to create work with depth and intention.
Each session builds on the last. Begin by exploring materials, color relationships, and layering techniques to develop your surfaces. Through bold edits and thoughtful reconstruction, discover how to incorporate collage to re-energize and resolve your compositions.
