In this two-day workshop, we’ll continue to tap into your creative potential by exploring different mediums and techniques while still using dogs and cats as our inspirations. Susan Wiersema will have you dive deeper into capturing animals’ expressions and emotions through their eyes, mouth, and nose and using uncommon colors. At the end of this course, we will work on creating a completed piece of art and some new artist tools at your disposal in creating future works of art.
In class one, we will review the essential elements of pet portraiture:
• Selecting and editing an image
• Making sketches
• Choosing colors and medium
• Selecting a substrate to work on
In class two, we will build on the foundations of our pieces and explore different ways of adding mark-making to create textures and patterns, giving movement and interest to our portraits. Also, we will dive into the realm of collage elements and maybe some stenciling.
Susan will help you through the whole process during class and on the Online Classroom.
