Come join me for a drawing class where we will be using a special brush pen called the Kuretake pen. We’ll start to use objects surround us as a jumping off point. Look for meaningful objects that can be used in conjunction with some text. In week one we will do several exercises to get comfortable using this brush pen. We will focus on finding areas where we can use strong darks and create a variety of patterns and texture. Each participant will be invited to select an object from their home. We will discuss ways that you can bring a written element into your imagery. In this class, we will be focusing on finding ways to create trying with a variety of values through mark- making, we will be looking at the drawings of Vincent Van Gogh, which are rich in texture and a wide variety of mark-making. We will use his work as our inspiration for the drawings we create.
