Color temperature is at the heart of painting compositions, yet many artists either aren’t aware of what temperature is or don’t feel confident in how to effectively use it. This intensive weekend workshop will employ examples from art history as well as challenging exercises to develop compositions that explore the vital vocabulary of color temperature for painters. We’ll cover:

—The importance of a limited temperature palette of brown and blue in art history, and in your painting

—Creating pictorial space and rhythm with temperature

—The intersection of hue and temperature in color composition

—How to create mood with color temperature
