Festival Lineup:

Saturday, July 26 – noon Pacific/3:00 pm Eastern/8:00 pm UK time
Linda Robertson – Compelling Florals in Encaustic

Artist Linda Robertson loves working in encaustic across many subjects, but finds plants especially compelling. The versatility of wax paint offers countless ways to bring light and life to natural forms. Join Linda as she demonstrates how she handles paint and brushwork using this expressive and dynamic medium.

Sunday, July 27 – 10:00 am Pacific/1:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm UK time
Soo Hong – Floral Gestures: Monotype on Sumi Paper

While studying sumi painting, I noticed that flowers and plants have gestures, much like the human body. Artists often explore gestures through drawing or by using paints with different thicknesses. In this workshop, I’ll introduce a new method: creating floral images using gestural mark-making with a gelli plate.

Monday, July 28 – 10:00 am Pacific/1:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm UK time
Wayne Jiang – Vibrant Floral Painting with Transparent Acrylic Glazes

Wayne will show you how to create a floral painting using transparent acrylic glazes in about an hour. Taking advantage of acrylic’s fast-drying time, this multiple layering acrylic technique is an efficient way to create paintings with vibrant, translucent colors, and fine details in a short time. This is a great technique for folks transitioning from watercolor or gouache to acrylic.

Tuesday, July 29 – 10:00 am Pacific/1:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm UK time
Richard Suckling – Summer Blooms in Soft Pastel and Mixed Media

Join Richard Suckling for a lively and inspiring one-hour floral demo as he explores experimental techniques that combine soft pastels with water-based media. Using methods like crushing, sprinkling, splashing, and dragging, Richard will demonstrate how to create exciting textures and dynamic effects. He’ll also incorporate materials such as water, alcohol, and gouache to push the boundaries of traditional pastel work and reveal new creative possibilities.

Wednesday, July 30 – 10:00 am Pacific/1:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm UK time
Yana Beylinson – Abstracting Flowers: Collage from Photo Reference

In this fun one-hour demonstration, Yana Beylinson will guide you through her process of creating paper collages using a photograph as a reference. Whether as a finished piece or a study for a larger painting, collage is a powerful tool for exploration and artistic discovery.

Yana will share her disciplined yet playful step-by-step method—from selecting just the right photo reference to planning a cohesive composition. You’ll gain insight into how collage can clarify your ideas, ignite creativity, and serve as a springboard for future paintings.

Thursday, July 31 – 10:00 am Pacific/1:00 pm Eastern/6:00 pm UK time
Carol Maguire – Joyful Summer Blooms in Oils

Join renowned artist Carol Maguire for a joyful one-hour summer demo showcasing her vibrant color palette and expressive palette knife techniques. Known for her bold impasto style, Carol will share her approach to creating lively, textured floral paintings.
