Acrylic paint is very versatile. It can mimic the appearance of oil, watercolor, or even gouache, so we often call it mixed media—especially when it’s used with other techniques like image transfer. It can copy images and also add a light, shiny layer on top, kind of like a varnish. Similarly, the Gelli Plate is a flexible printmaking tool. It allows for spontaneous, playful experimentation without requiring much precision—where freedom and mistakes are part of the
process.
In this workshop, we’ll mix acrylic paint and Gelli Plates to create one-of-a-kind handmade books through lots of creative experimenting.
