Monotypes are a natural extension from painting into printmaking. It is often referred to as the “painterly print.” However, there are several techniques in this distinctive process which yield effects and imagery that can’t be achieved through painting. In this two-week mini-class, Scott will be leading students through various monotype techniques that can be done at your kitchen table – without a press!

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature.

Scott is an Oregon native and lives in Portland with his family. www.scottgellatly.com
