Date: Wednesdays, January 3-24, 2024

Level: All
Medium: Printmaking

In this four-week class, we’ll be using the art of monotype to simplify our landscape-based compositions. We’ll dive into the materials and techniques of monotype printmaking – without the use of a press. Monotype is an expressive medium that yields exciting effects and marks, which makes it perfect for abstraction through simplification. Scott will demonstrate how to set up and register the plate so you can create multiple pass prints. We will start with reductive, single-color images and then move towards a full color palette.

Scott Gellatly holds a degree in painting and drawing from the University of Oregon and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A landscape painter at heart, Scott’s work has become more abstracted, with greater emphasis on pure color and gestural mark-making to evoke nature. Scott is an Oregon native and lives in Portland with his family. www.scottgellatly.com
