Unlock the expressive power of paint through the techniques of two legendary artists—John Singer Sargent and Antonio Mancini. This hands-on painting course blends practical studio work with insights from art history to deepen your technical skill and painterly voice.
Each week, Sara Sisun will engage you in focused exercises drawn from the methods of Sargent and Mancini, exploring their distinct approaches to portraiture, figure work, brush handling, and light. Through guided master studies, live demonstrations, and structured painting sessions, you’ll build confidence in classical principles while experimenting with expressive mark-making.
We’ll briefly explore the creative friendship between these two masters—Sargent referred to Mancini as “the best living painter”—to better understand how their styles diverged and influenced one another. But the heart of this course is active learning: putting brush to canvas, receiving feedback, and growing as a painter.
Whether you’re drawn to Sargent’s elegant precision or Mancini’s textured intensity, this class will help you absorb their methods and make them your own.
