Capture the dynamic beauty of coastal landscapes with a bold, fresh approach to watercolor. During this 3-day workshop, develop an understanding of key steps to developing strong compositions through thumbnail sketches, value studies and exploring color strategies prior to working on larger paintings. Gain knowledge about mixing transparent, staining and opaque pigments to achieve beautiful washes, build layers of rich colors and preserve the light in your composition. Discover how to create a personal interpretation of the land through simplification and honing in on what is most important. Inspiration will be gained from demonstrations and viewing the works of master watercolorists Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent and several contemporary artists.
