In this two-week class, Robert Goldman will share the landscape painting fundamentals of light, values and shapes that are necessary to achieve expressive design, color and light in your paintings.

Through demonstrations and discussions, Bob will show you how to define form, interpret light and see nature as a pattern composed of dark and light shapes. Learn to see shapes, not things.

You will also discover how Bob achieves his use of bold expressive color through strong chroma, subtle nuances and a combination of color styles.

 Robert Goldman, born 1948 in Illinois, has been a professional artist since 1971. He showed his work in San Diego, CA for over 25 years before moving to Tucson, AZ. where he exhibited his work for 20 years until moving to Prescott, AZ in 2013. Robert’s paintings are based both on plein air and studio work.

Robert attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA where he was accepted with advanced standing and awarded a scholarship. A selected list of workshops include Ray Vinella, John Asaro, Wolf Kahn, Wayne Thiebaud, Matt Smith, Jove Wang, Phil Starke, Randall Sexton, Ray Roberts, Bill Anton and Ned Jacob.
Robert has received numerous awards, and has been included in several books and publications. His work is in the permanent collection of The Grand Canyon Association and he is collected worldwide.  In addition he has been an art teacher for a number of years. In May 2021, Robert will be honored to have his third extensive museum show at the Maynard Dixon Legacy Museum. In 2021 Robert was awarded Signature Membership in the Plein Air Painters of America organization.

  • This class is taught live via Zoom. To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an iPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.
