In this four-week class with painter Robert E. Wells, participants will explore ways to maximize the use of reference photographs to tell the story, increase dramatic impact and drive the narrative in their work. With winter as the theme, participants will examine the human figure in a series of situations connected by snow form and create a series of sketches/paintings within a winter backdrop, learning to narrow down their subjects with the intention of creating a larger finished painting based on their previous sketches.
Robert E. Wells is a Yorkshire-born artist, known for his cityscape paintings as well as rural landscapes and figurative works. A member of the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of British Artists, he regularly exhibits his work in solo shows and the RA Summer Exhibition. www.robertewells.com
