This course is all about being able to add sparkle to your water and some drama to those skies using soft pastels. From thumbnails to finished paintings we will explore how we can fully exploit the potential these wonderful sticks of colour have for capturing those particular moments of drama and light. Whether working from sketches or photos our aim will always be to see the potential in our source material and then devise a method to allow us to interpret these qualities successfully in our paintings. Tone, colour, composition and mark making will, of course, be covered but this course will concentrate on bringing drama to our work, focusing these two particular aspects of pastel painting and other mediums.
