Richard Suckling – Capturing the Cottage Garden In Soft Pastel (Online); Friday, September 6, 2024

Date: Friday, September 6, 2024
Time: 2:00-3:30PM Pacific Time/5:00-6:30 PM Eastern Time/10:00-11:30 PM London Time
Medium: Pastel

In this technique takeaway we turn our attention to the cottage garden and particularly a summer flower bed bursting with colour and a mass of foliage and flowers. A wonderful subject to put our pastel skills to the test and a lesson in learning to edit the daunting complexity this subject can appear to present. Strong composition, dynamic colour palette and tonal control will all come into play as the painting develops. We will concentrate on bringing the picture to life with just the right amount of detail to capture an impression of the scene whilst being careful not to overwork it.
