Painter Richard Blades is fascinated by the quiet corners of studios and the way light falls upon objects and plants. In this class, he invites students to slow down, observe closely, and translate those moments into expressive, intimate paintings of flowers and everyday objects.
Through demonstrations, Richard will guide students through a dynamic painting process—from close observation and gestural mark-making to developing and resolving a painting through thoughtful experimentation. Emphasis will be placed on working intuitively while building strong structure and clarity in your work.
Richard will also share his distinctive approach to color mixing, showing how color can be used effectively to create vibrancy, harmony, and mood.
Designed for painters who want to deepen their process and bring more life and expression to their work, this course encourages curiosity, experimentation, and a fresh approach to still life painting. All levels welcome.
