California based artist Randy Sexton is nationally known for his use of expressive brushwork. Like your signature, your brushwork is recognizable. In this 4-week class, Randy will share his methods for creating loose, expressive brushwork and will cover fundamentals of successful picture-making: three dimensionality, value, color mixing, brushwork, paint quality, mood and concept.
Whatever the subject matter, the success of any painting relies on a solid understanding of the basic principles of picture making in tandem with the creativity and passion of the artist.
California based artist Randy Sexton is nationally known for the use of color and expressive brushwork in his oil paintings of “everyday” scenes. Raised in rural Connecticut, Sexton moved to San Francisco, CA in 1980 after completing a BFA from the University of CT, Storrs.
The Bay area has proven to be home, where he has earned a great reputation for being an educator as well as a fine artist. He taught classes in drawing, painting, and composition at the San Francisco Academy of Art until 2005.
