Fed up with always getting muddy colours on your palette? Wish you could mix any colour accurately? Would you like a better understanding of how colour behaves and how best to manage it? If so then join British artist Peter Keegan as he leads a fascinating, engaging and enjoyable session all about colour. Whilst delving into the glorious options that colour provides, Peter will show you how to best use it in your paintings, how to manage it on your palette and how to mix accurate colours every time.

During this demonstration and talk, Peter will explain exactly what the colour wheel is and how it can help us as artists. He will then share the 2 most important factors when trying to understand colour mixing and will be putting these principals to the test with some fun, interactive colour matching games and puzzles. Peter will then move to the easel where will put all this learning into practise by showing you how to mix accurate colours.

Participants are welcome to paint along with Peter if they wish. If so, they will need;

A basic colour palette of either oils, acrylics or gouache including

  • Titanium White
  • Lemon Yellow
  • Magenta
  • Cobalt Blue

Some scraps of canvas, paper or board to paint on, with your usual chosen paint thinner, cleaners and brushes.
