Join award-winning British artist Michael Weller for a 2-week exploration of the color “white” through the subject matter of his painting hero, Giorgio Morandi!
Weller will paint from a white still-life, including household objects-an old jam jar, a carton of baking soda, a tin of biscuits, etc. Students will choose objects that they like- some taller, some wider, some narrower-all painted white, arranged with intervals between them or overlapping. The colors become very subtle.
Michael will share ways to measure, compare shapes and mix colors in this fun and interesting workshop.
Week 1- Household objects painted white, seen at eye level.
Week 2- Feedback and critique. Students are encouraged to post their paintings on the group message board. Review of participants’ work.
