This four-week course takes inspiration from the flat colors, bold outlines, and clean lines of Gabriele Münter, a central figure of the Blue Rider movement. Münter’s work—whether her expressive landscapes, vivid still lifes, or early palette-knife studies—shows a refreshing simplicity and clarity that continues to feel modern today.
Over the course, we’ll explore what makes Münter’s paintings so compelling: strong dark lines, luminous color, and a slightly abstracted, intuitive approach to everyday subjects. Drawing on her legacy, we’ll experiment with techniques that can bring more directness and clarity into our own work. This is not about imitating Münter’s style, but about discovering new ways of seeing and painting.
Each week will build on the last, with demonstrations, guided exercises, and room for personal interpretation. By the end, you’ll notice your drawings becoming simpler, your colors more confident, and your work uniquely your own.
