The dramatic interaction of waves, shore and sky has been an inspiration to many painters.  This class will explore how students can adapt their own photographs to create dynamic compositions.  Demos will explore the fluidity of waves and water contrasting with rocks and shore.  Using small color studies students will refine their color and design choices, taking advantage of the fast and flexible nature of acrylics.  The instructor will review the use of Golden Open Acrylics to extend workability of the medium.  This is a good class for all levels.

There will be two classes with instructor demos, while a third short class will review additional student work following the two demo classes.

Students can use any of their existing acrylic paints but are encouraged to try Golden Open Acrylics starting with small tubes of primary colors:  Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Red Medium and Cadmium Yellow Medium plus Titanium White and Burnt Sienna.  Painting surfaces can range from paper to small canvases or panels.  Demos will feature a range of Open Acrylic colors on Bristol Plate paper as well as small gessoed panels.

This is not a paint-a-long class. Students are encouraged to post their own studies and paintings after each demo class for critiques and suggestions.
