Additional practice includes color and color mixing using complementaries; applying techniques to achieve soft light, atmosphere and luminosity; and simplifying form. Continued study of historical and contemporary works will provide insight to the techniques and methods of Tonalism in landscape painting.

Each class session includes instructor demos, guided exercises, group discussion and critique of participants’ work. Group critiques throughout the class will offer an opportunity for growth, to share ideas and learn from others. Participants can work from imagination or photo reference.
