Join Lucy Marks for a dynamic and engaging exploration of how to interpret the landscape with confidence and freedom.
Across three live online sessions, Lucy will demonstrate and teach from direct observation, creating expressive field sketches and developing them into larger studio paintings. Working in oil and gouache (though all mediums are welcome), she will guide you through identifying and simplifying the key elements that give a landscape its structure, atmosphere and emotional impact.
The course will focus on:
• Selecting and editing from nature
• Building strong compositions
• Capturing light, movement and atmosphere
• Creating energy and cohesion within your work
• Opportunities to discuss colour choices and materials
By learning to interpret rather than copy, you’ll develop a more personal and instinctive response to the landscape — bringing looseness, vitality and a strong sense of cohesion to your paintings.
