Join artist Lisa Bebi for this 4-week mixed media exploration of the expressive paint-over and its many uses in creating the story. Bebi’s paint-over technique uses family photos and found images as a base for painting and altering photocopies of photos by painting, staining and combining them with collage to create a story. The applications and combinations are endless: collage, drawing, pastel, painting, storytelling, composition, assemblage, journaling, wax techniques and more. The results also stand up on their own as finished paintings.
San Diego artist Lisa Bebi is known for her sensitive yet simple depictions of vintage figures that often combine paint with black and white imagery. She spotlights her subjects within two-dimensional backgrounds to emphasize subtleties of sober character and to reveal interesting narratives.
Since 2006, Bebi’s work and writings have been featured in Somerset Studio magazine, as well as numerous other publications and articles. Her award-winning work is shown in group and solo gallery exhibitions, both locally and nationally. www.lisabebi.com
