Papercutting, Scherenschnitte, Knippen, Wycinanki, Monkiri, Chien-Chih or Papel Picado… just a few terms associated with this ancient art form that continues to be a popular art form.
Mixed media artist Larry Calkins will share techniques for creating amazing paper cuts using simple tools. Participants will discover how to cut traditional and non-traditional whimsical designs and will learn about this art form’s history and its many uses.
Larry will use a variety of interesting papers, including traditional silhouette paper and copy paper, as well as sharp scissors, a good scalpel and/or X-acto knife. Feel free to work along or just watch.
