This demo/talk is part of our Technique Takeaway series.
Date: Friday, February 12, 2021
Time: 2:00-3:30PM Pacific Standard Time/5:00-6:30PM Eastern Standard Time
Discover specific art techniques that you can ‘take away’ from some of your favorite artists and apply to your own work. Each one and a half hour presentation will showcase a different process that each of these artists incorporates in their daily art practice. Instruction will be through a combination of lecture and demonstration by the artists.
Our Technique Takeaways are presented live via Zoom. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor via the Zoom chat box and will have access to the recorded session for 30 days. You will receive a Zoom meeting link and passcode the day before the talk. To take part, you will need a camera enabled computer OR an IPad/smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.
We all like that punch that a strong painting can deliver, but if we focus too much on creating drama the resulting work can easily become ‘too busy’. Often the impact of a painting depends at least as much on the quiet spaces and subtle contrasts as on the dramatic. In this Technique Takeaway I will show you the ways that I lean into the subtleties, squeezing more out of less. Join me as I share my thought process and techniques on works in progress.
