Working from photo reference, learn to simplify the seemingly complex subject matter of the figure to add elements of interest in your landscape and interior compositions. In this 4-week class, artist Durre Waseem will share her processes for interpreting the subject matter and capturing its essence.

In each class, Duree will share different experiences from her art journey which have helped her painting process evolve. Each week, she will give a demonstration, explaining her approach to capturing the essence of the figure.

Durre will paint in oils, although water-based oil and acrylic may  be used.

Durre Waseem has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Punjab University and taught for 10 years at various colleges in Pakistan. She moved to the United States in 2001 and became a full time painter. Durre paints portraits and plein air in oils, pastels, watercolor, ink, and acrylics. She captures the local color of both the people and the place of wherever she may be. Her bold, colorful brushwork and loose impressionistic style effectively capture the energy and feeling of her subject and establishes a direct line of communication with the viewer.

About Our Online Classes:

  • This class is taught live via Zoom. To take this class, you need a microphone and camera enabled computer OR an iPad /smart tablet OR a smart phone (android or IOS) and a strong internet connection.
  • You will have access to a private class message board on our website where you can share work, comment and ask questions. (Exact use of the message board, critique of student work and general class format is at the discretion of the instructor, please check course description for details.)
  • Class will be recorded and recordings expire 60 days after the final day of the course.
  • Participants will receive an email with the Zoom link and class details 5-7 days before the class starts (don’t forget to check your junk folder).
